Tension wrenches differences

Postby Tachyon » 30 Mar 2014 12:16

The thought of buying a Peterson pry bar have crossed my mind, but I haven't yet because the shipping to my country is higher than the item cost itself. Is it better in any way than the normal L tension wrench for normal locks, or is it just a personal choice? Is there much differences in between the two of them at all?

Now I just have two tension wrenches, one like the one below here and one just like it with a twisted "handle".

For many locks, a TOK tension wrench (fits like the Peterson Prybar) is a better way to tension the plug. As for getting one to you in Norway, perhaps we can work out a lock trade, and I can toss in a prybar if the deal is good. Always looking for locks that are different than the ones here in the United States. The weight is next to nothing for a tension wrench, so won't affect shipping. If you are interested, PM me.

You don't have to buy a top of the keyway tension wrench, just get a windshield wiper blade and bend the tip over about one fourth of an inch to an L shape, and voila, TOK wrench.

Thanks for the offer Gordon, but I haven't unfortunately managed to buy any lock cylinders for myself yet. Hard to find around here, unless I want to pay around 100 USD a piece.

Nice tip KPick, I think I will give it a shot and make a tension wrench shorter than the two that I have already! :)

Coincidentally, I just finished watching bosnianbill's tension wrench video. He goes into the various styles of wrenches and what they're good for. Check it out here.
