Lock sitting in my pasture!

Postby RubberBanned » 2 Apr 2014 14:17

I found a lock with two keys sitting in my pasture. It looked pretty neat, so I picked it up and held onto it. (this was before I was into picking) Now, digging through some things, I took out the old fellow, and had a whack with some picks. I haven't had any luck yet, it has an aggressive keyway. But I polished it up a bit, and am sharing it with you guys! https://www.flickr.com/photos/59011224@N04/

Sweet find! I love finding locks... hasn't happened very often though. Good luck picking it!

WOW! That is an old military Eagle. Dont let it hurt your feelings if you dont get it open because they are quite difficult. Luck find. Check out that pasture again with a metal detector.

The lock is in nice condition. The price was right, too! ;)

Interesting! I did indeed scour the pasture with a metal detector, and came away with a bundle of brass locks! Pics (hehe) incoming! https://www.flickr.com/photos/59011224@N04/

So, after some examination, the Almont had been torn down, it basically came apart after I put a pick in it. (I'd like to put it back together!) The two keys to the Eagle, though differently bitted, open the lock, so I assume it's master keyed. The other two.... No idea. But they're really pretty after being polished a bit. No luck picking them yet, but I'm having fun trying. Yay finds!
