Five Compartment Safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Five Compartment Safe

I scored this out of the garbage at work the other day and planted it next to my workbench to work on in my spare time.

The bottom and two top compartments are visible / accessible through rear mounting holes, so I'm thinking I can get those open with a long screwdriver if I can remove the lock case cover, visually dial the wheel packs into position, depress the relocker with the screwdriver and open it. (Any flaws in that logic?)

The locks are all S&G R6700 series.

From what I can see, the tailpiece of the pin tumbler lock isn't actually connected to anything.

I'm attempting to manipulate the middle two and learning *everything* in the process. I've taken a basic safe servicing course, but manipulation wasn't in the curriculum, so I'm following the procedure outlined in The National Locksmith's "Manipulating a Spring Fence Lock" chapter using printed dial calipers. Wish me luck!

duuude so lucky!

I wish cool stuff like this was to be found around my area.

That logic is sound for the lower compartments, if the uppers dont have rear mounting holes, no shame in making some, I did that to an Amsec safe I had to open before I knew about manipulation methods. But, instead of opening the back cover, I peeked the change key hole, which is a long process due to wheels covering each other as you turn them, so if you can remove back covers, that's gonna make it much easier to view everything.

Congrats on the find!

A USB digital endoscope connected to a laptop will be your best friend for scoping the change key hole.
They can be cheap, look for a 640 X 480 resolution.
