Need help identifying this safe...

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Safe Identification Help, Please

A friend has shown me this safe, and is hoping to identify the safe type and lock type. He has been told that it is German, but he is not sure on that.

First the whole safe front:

The top half:

The dials and handle with my hand for scale:

The handle:

Top Hinge:

Bottom Hinge:

The dial:

The numbers on the dial go from 0 to 100, but there is a gap between 100 and 0 on the dial:

Interesting to note that can not feel any contact points, but it is definitely not a direct entry lock. Both dials seem to be lightly bent, so there is binding and a slight wobble when the dials are turned. They feel cheap, like they may be aluminum, but that is just an impression I get.

Thank you for your information, and any questions you may ask.

This is a huge shot in the dark. Some manufacturers will put there name and serial number of the same on the back of the handle. Take a small inspection mirror and look on the back of it. Again it's a shot in the dark.

I'll try it next time I'm over there. Thanks. :)

GWiens,
this resembles a KROMER lock. If so, it is a BIG lock with huge tolerances. I have manipulated a gear-driven one(spindle connected to driver cam with gear), and I had to use listening device for the contactpoints on the first number, the next one stood out visually, and then dialled for dollars.

Are you opening this one, or only ID?

Rgds,
Ed

PS. The dial is heavy, and DOES NOT pull off.

Thank you, Lock_ed. Will pass it along. Not personally working on this safe - a friend who is a safe tech is. He had not seen one quite like it, and we thought we'd check for more info.

Gordon, I have a 4 wheel Kromer combo lock that I can get pics of for you later on.
