Where to get good lever lock picks?

Postby KPick » 29 Apr 2014 0:39

I've been interested in picking lever locks for a while now, (ever since reading the "This old lock" side of LP101). I want a good set of lever lock picks and I'm sure you guys know a link or two on where to get them. Please dump the links under here and you will be blessed with the skills of a god! Merci beaucoup in advanced!

Only company I know who makes lever lock picks is HPC & if you see one you can easily copy it from spring steel wire. I have never had any luck picking a lever lock with one, I usually impression a key instead. Then I have a key and I didn't waste time goofing around

Read this viewtopic.php?t=10743
and you can make your own.
Also look up curtain picks for fancier tools.

For simple lever picks, make them yourself - it just involves bending bits of wire.

You can buy picks for curtained lever locks or you can just use two pieces of wire as you would for the un-curtained lever locks; the choice is up to you but it will take practice to open them with just wire. Grinding down the top quarter of a key blank can make a curtain turner that works better than just two pieces of wire. Grind roughly half the width of the keyblank and reduce the part that is normally cut when a key is copied, to just enough to catch the curtain and turn it. The wire will need to be thinner and you'll need to figure out the best way to bend it, so that it can reach the leavers - a clear cover for a lever lock will help you with this task.
