Do you carry a lock pick kit with you?

I definitely have a Mini set on my person at all times.
Just a few of my favourite picks in a small leather sparrows case that my first picks came in.

I've carried them on me for almost half a decade now and it's never been an issue.

The only time I don't take them out is if I'm going drinking with the gang and expect to be walking home when the pub closes at two am.
Nothing quiet like stumbling down the sidewalk at 2AM to get looped into a conversation with police.

In my experience, as long as you are following the hobby picking rules and using reasonable common sense, you should never be in a situation where you are searched anyways.

Do you carry a lock pick kit with you most of the time on a normal day? Not around the house, but do you take a small pick lock kit kit you in your jacket pocket or in your backpack/bag when you are going out?

I have done it a couple of times, but nothing I normally do.

Although many members on here do, I personally do not. I would like to but I just don't have the pocket space after a cell phone and wallet get thrown in the mix. The very reason i will eventually break down and marry a women is to have access to her valuable purse realestate

Now time for the hard truth...you definitely should not carry a pick set with you! Why not? Because of your age! I don't mean to sound prejudice but I don't think I need to explain the common public perception of youth in your age group. I just really think you are better off keeping the lock picking at home for a few more years to avoid any unnecessary trouble.

This is what I was hinting at with:

Be extra careful for the next decade my friend, no matter how positive your intent, if you are caught with lockpicks at your age the preconceived notions of "pesky young vandals" will outweigh any argument you put forth in your own defense.

Though not fair (and stereotyping, ageist, and likely against your rights,) it will be more trouble than it is worth when they take the picks and and accuse you of being involved with a local B&E.




TL:DR, Don't risk it, keep em at home till you're less likely to be a target of police due to age.

I have a madbob jackknife style pick set on my key ring, and I keep a small pick set in my backpack, that I carry for work. I usually fly with them in my carry on, but take the madbob set off my keyring, as TSA hates anything knife shaped.

When I'm not at work? Not normally.

I have my car and house keys, I normally have spares of those keys with me just in case I would have locked myself out. Any other locks out there aren't mine to pick, unless some of us are getting together to pick locks. That's different.
