Hey guys,
I'm new to Lockpicking but I was always fascinated about it. Recently I stumpled upon a set of picks so I did some reading and got hands on a pretty basic european cylinder lock (incl. key). It was in use for quite a while and the side that faced out is pretty corroded. For picking it I used the better, not-corroded side.
After half an hour of messing around I somehow managed to rock it open. Unfortunately it only rotated 10° but then it got stuck. It still turned backwards and re-locked again. The key works pretty well but at 10° rotation i have the feeling, that it has to overcome some kind of notch. What I did was to pump a little WD-40 inside (I know it's not the best for locks but it ist the only one I have). It still blocked but after turning it to the limit, 5° counter-clockwise, 5° clockwise, and so on it turned beyond 10° and I was able to turn it 360°. Two hours later this "trick" stopped working and it is kind of demotivating to rock it open pretty quickly only to get blocked at 10°. Any ideas? Is something wrong with the lock (Should I get some graphite, etc.?) or did I make a mistake?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
