I'm trying to make Feeler Lock Picks, take a look please..

So I actually made my first lock pick, but it doesn't turn in the keyway. I made like a flag type lockpick, it could probably be used for dimple locks, but I'm not trying to make flag type lock picks for dimple locks.

Here's what I made Friday, 05.02.2014. I ordered 1095 Fully Hard, Blue Tempered Spring Steel (0.025" x 6" x 25") Shim Stock from McMaster Carr.

I ordered two of em, so basically I have 0.025" x 12" x 50" of this high quality sheet metal at my disposal.

Here's what my lock pick looks like, done 95% with a Dremel & Cut-off wheel(s).

Here's what I got from McMaster Carr :)

And here..

And here's what I've done about my little problem, and I'd apreciate it, if someone could tell me if I'm going in a much better direction, or if I'm just not fit to be in this hobby.. :)

if you gave it a front angle cut and polish the h*** out of it, it should work for something, might hard to move but it can work. have you ever try making deforest picks?

I like using a deforest pick as well, your picks remind me of my broken key extracters, you should at least add a diamond or a hook to the end, so you can reach over pins

+1 to what Bill is saying. Don't be discouraged though, if nobody ever tried anything new, there would never be any innovation.
