Schlage Deadbolt Question

Postby NovElite » 18 May 2014 0:41

Hey guys, was wondering if theres anyone out there that might have some tips on how to SPP this guy. First off, i'm a few months out of completing locksmith courses and getting my license. No stranger to security pins, practice daily on them. But this is the first time i have come across this core from schlage, maybe anyways. Have picked them before and didn't take them apart. So after trying every trick on this thing but only meeting the same cringe worthy false set, seriously biggest i have seen, decided to take it apart. So after looking it over i obviously see why and whats happening, continue to try but same. So before i break out the blanks and files i tried one last thing, and it worked. Also somewhat new to this site so not sure if this should be in another section since this is a widely used lock and use of restricted tools (in some state) were used. The winning combo to this guy was using a gun (brockhage) and picking in reverse direction, then following up with a plug spinner set to the max spin allowed. That said i can open this all day with this method, it does bug me i cant SPP this guy which is why id like to see if you fine gentleman have any experience with this or tips to beat those devious 4 cuts, i know some locks and brands have their own little quirks to know about them so just seeing if theres any for these. http://s1295.photobucket.com/

After the previous post decided to start practicing on this one by adding pins as i go etc, at the moment only one security pin and 1 standard. Can pick it fairly quickly but it is quick to do its false set thing. The 2nd picture where its in its Schalge housing is the false set. I can tell from just messing with the one security pin, it has to be even on a surgical level for it not want to tilt and snag on those cuts. http://s1295.photobucket.com/

I ran across this on a schlage. I could not pick it. I finally found out the problem. When I would get a false set, that was as far as I could ever get.I decided to try a different selection on pins. When I did pick it I never receiver the false set. The false set was messing me up. I set the pin next to the pin that gave me the false set. Wham The lock opened.

Thanks

James

As silverfox mentioned, try picking it in a different order. I also have this same lock and for some reason what it feels like the binding order should be isn't.

Those would be some cra... pins!

five or six pins in a Schlage.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.
