Howdy, I purchased 12 large Yale hardened steel padlocks, they are dbl locking shank. The balls on some are not getting pushed out to shank, springs must be broken so need them too. The locks don't have a number on them that I can recall. There are drain holes and a Allen screw in the side. I can take the core out, I don't have any pins that are the same in my Kwi, Schl, Wei, Medeco, Abus, ext.
So I need to rebuild these locks and rekey now and in future when needed. I called out of state and the smith couldn't believe that I was able to take them apart w/o the key on some, didn't recall where I put them for safety. Please assist me in what I need. Yes I located the keys now, Lil
The Yale padlocks look similar to this:

Gordon, yes I have a pic but didn't see the button to add it. I am on a N7100 Android w/UC Browser. Where I am at helps determine the lock? OK, I'll bite, in Nebraska. Couldn't locate exact pic online, some locks are out in the steel building and lightening is all about, so me shall stay on the flat side.

Jastech, A "Master lock that looks like it from the side" is not going to get us anywhere in the neighborhood. It is like showing a satellite picture of an entire neighborhood, and saying 'my house looks like that one on the hill over there - how much would it cost to refinish the cabinets?' The reason for wanting to know the location is you mentioned asking an out-of-state locksmith about rekeying the locks. That seems rather confusing to me. But it also helps to know where you are (Nebraska), since there may be someone on the forum who lives 'just up the street'. You never know. Then it changes the whole issue from diagnosing a problem from a rough description, to being able to physically handle the lock, and say "Oh, now I know what is happening, and I got the parts over here". Just trying to be helpful! Gordon

The only Yale I can find that looks even remotely like the Master you posted is the p301, a long shackle high security, all of the references I find online are uk resellers.

1Mr Christopher, that P301 is close, mine have better body looks, lol
The body of mine are a little bigger, if that's possible. So shouldn't they use same locking ball springs, balls, pins, drivers etc?

I have no idea. Have you done a complete tear down and confirmed that it's a bad spring and not simply a stuck spring? To post an image, upload it to imgur, then insert the bbs link into your reply.

in some padlocks, the locking balls are different sizes. Even if the sizes are barely different, it can affect how the locks work. Which ones share parts and which ones do no brings us back to pictures.

mrcristopher, yes, tear down confirmed broken ball spring. I had cleaned them before and sprayed silicon for the lube. The foul weather out here plays heck with lube out here, then -20 makes them stick real bad. If we can't narrow down the Lab kit needed then tomorrow I will disassemble one again and take pics with my N7100. Why is there not a "add pic" button?

Hosting images takes storage and bandwidth, both of which cost money. If the forum had such an ability it is likely that we would all have to pay membership in order to cover the costs. Wouldn't it be the lab Yale .019 step kit?

Gordon, I could mic the balls, but the ball springs have lots of weather and in/out wear so a mic of them won't help us eh? I bought these new about ten years ago I think. Is there a Yale padlock archive site that may assist?
1Mr Christopher, dont they make a padlock specific kit with ball springs and balls, or I could just order them seperate then add to kit eh?

Yes Yes!!! Mr. Christopher, I think your spot on mate!
OK, now for locking ball springs, balls etc. It should be the. 019 kit eh?
My Abus brass locks have Kwik set plugs in them now. I like the Schlage sets my Dad worked up GM & Master key codes on paper that are still in box's with huge keyring full that he cut.
