Hey guys! I was wondering if someone could tell me what keyway this is. I bought it off of eBay, and I cannot find a blank to match it anywhere. https://space.zeo.net/g/4xgdf(Just click the link to see the picture!) Thanks! Brendan

I believe it is an Everest 29R. You won't find a blank to match it either.

Look at the back of the plug, it should have the keyway engraved. It will be something like S123 or S145.

Nothing on the back. The only other marking I can find is "D" on the left hand side.

I didn't look close enough the first time, since this is a SFIC, it will likely be a "R" series keyway for the Everest 29 system as mentioned above. You won't be able to get the blanks unless you have a contract with Schalge.

Alright, well that is unfortunate. I'll head over to my locksmith and have them cut a key.

It's either Everest B series or Everest 29 R series. Both are restricted. Your locksmith might not be of any help unless they have that particular keyway.

Unfortunately not that simple.

Yes, you have, that's the whole point of high security locks, you get locks that are better made, harder to pick and drill, and key control which means the blanks are kept in a restricted supply chain. That's a Medeco BiAxial lock, and they must have at least 50 different BiAxial keyways, of which about 3 or so most Medeco locksmiths keep in stock such as G3, Liberty, and Patriot, and then they have the Dealer Based Keyway they purchase from Medeco and they're usually the only area locksmith who has that keyway.
Even so, you cant walk into a local Medeco locksmith and buy a blank for that lock, because you need a special machine to cut the key. But just visual inspection of your photo is not enough to be sure of which biaxial keyway it is, they dont make the whole list public, and they vary slightly from keyway to keyway, so we can only offer guesses.
If you're gonna keep buying locks on ebay, only buy them if they have the key so you can play with it, or if you are buying the lock to actually install on something like your store or house, then make sure you buy them with enough keys as getting copies made is going to be impossible most of the time.
I only buy cylinders on ebay without key if I'm going to practice picking and it is a fairly rare cylinder, otherwise I only buy ones with keys.
Can you tell us why you need the keys? I'm just curious if you're buying locks to use them or just for picking practice/fun.
hope this helps, Squelchtone

Great answer. Thanks! And I just collect locks. That's all. It really makes no difference to me whether it has a key or not, I was just wondering.
Thanks,
Brendan

You can try what I do from time to time... Get brass stock, and whip out the dremel. It is a fair bit of work, but you can make a blank. Then disassemble the lock and make a key from the blank one pin at a time.
Note - do not use aluminum because it is softer than brass. This is experience talking.
Good luck!

That's actually what I as thinking of doing. Either that, or making a mold of the interior of the cylinder, and then casting from that mold. Either way, it makes no difference, I like little projects to key me busy from time to time.

Good for you. But would advise against trying to make a mold of the inside of the keyway, as the pin channels and slots for the sidebar would not like any leftover residue.
If you can find a good way to make a mold of the keyway without filling the pin channels or slots for the sidebar, let us know!

Hey guys!
Good news! Bought a key off of eBay for a Medeco Biaxial G3, and that is what keyway I posted a picture. Even came with the pins for the key too with the keycard. What a lucky break!
Thanks!
Brendan
