Raimundo's Bogota "How to" documents

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Go to a local junk yard ask if you can have the old wiper blades (just the disposable part).. As long as you don't take the arms they will probably give them to you .. I have a couple local ones that will let me take a few sets every so often
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

[quote="Mad Mick"]With kind permission, I'm proud to be able to link LP101 to raimundo's step-by-step documents on producing the Bogota rake/pick set. Click on the links below, then once the image has loaded, right-click and 'save-as'.

Bogota Making Tutorial BY raimundo!

Indeed, Ray has taken some pics to walk you all through the process he uses to make his famous picks! Because this is a picture tutorial, I have opted not to post all the pics within this thread, as it would choke up those poor souls on dialup.

Here's the link:
<Snip>Dead link.. sorry guys</Snip>

Thanks Ray for some great pics! It's nice to see it done as the master does it. :)

Cheers,

HEY MeRZHiN!!! I live in oregon and have a abundance of street sweeper bristles, and beautiful stainless steel if you PM me your address I can send you a set of cleaned/polished street sweeper bristles, there realy the best material for "Raimundos Bogotas" and it would be much more time consuming using anything else :-)

I followed the instructions here and made my first Bogotas yesterday.
They are not pretty but they are very effective on the test locks I tried them on.

I ended up using 3.2mm wiper blade steel which I manage to get this week from the trash outside an auto spares store. I was going to try and get some street sweeper bristle but this stuff seems have the right thickness.
I would till like to try street sweeper bristle for comparison. I have searched the streets here and have not been able to find any.
I am still working on smoothing them out using 1000 grit emery cloth.

Now that I understand what needs to be done I will refine my methods and try and make some better looking ones.

I posted this on a different thread but it's only right that I post here as well as feedback to all who posted instructions here and to encourage other to give it a try.
I used the 7/32 chain saw file from set one can get at Harbor Freight.

Necro. This is one of the most popularly viewed threads on the site. Could someone dig the images from archive.org and fix the photobucket links in the main post?

Only an artist can make a pick like Raimundo.
You may have the materials the tools and even the how to PDFs. But you will never have the magic pixie dust! That elusive, rare ability to create a thing of beauty that also happens to work too!
But don't let that dissuade you! Right now, somewhere out there, someone is making a better pick. We just ain't seen it yet!
Can I be first in the queue to buy one?

Signed, a lucky Raimundo pick owner!
