i notice in some locks that give some counter rotation with no sec pins.i read alot of post that other come across this to. this is my guess why. i think this is because the binding pin can rotate less as it gets deeper in to the bible. because there should at least 4 contact points(keeping it simple) 2 at the shear line(where it binds),1 in the bible, 1 in the shell. when you bind a pin it rotates the pin a little until it contacts the upper and lower corners on the pin to the shell and plug. as you push the pin in more the angle the allowed by the top and bottom gets less. giving security pin like feedback. i thought about this last night messing with a no sec pin shlage. wondering if anyone has a better insight in to this. i think the reason why pins impression harder just before they set is related.
