Mul T Lock Mortise cylinder

I bought a new mul-t-lock mortise cylinder, I went to remove the cam since it didn't work correctly, and I turned the key. The pins started tumbling out, and now the key is stuck. Can i salvage this lock?Image

The image tags will not work because the URL is not a direct link to the image, rather the page the image is on.

As far as the key being stuck....can you remove the plug from the lock or is that stuck too?

Is there a brass strip along one side? Think there is. If so, you can remove it, and pull out the springs and driver pins.

Yep the plug is stuck too.

I'll try removing the rail and report back. Thanks!

Glad I could help. :)

Now use pliers on that rail and bend it (neatly) into a "V" shape, then you can reassemble the lock!

A Trick for any MTL Cylinder that has brought shame to your understanding of how MTL Cylinders work is to use a 4x2 piece of wood, with the key in whichever position it's stuck in slap it about holding the key thumb-turn - eventually the cylinder will fall off the key and allow you to pick up the pieces.

:D

Hope that's explained well enough - sorry I always find it hard to describe an action.
