The factory ASSA isn't tooooo bad really. Just a shame they went for everything on one side and didn't open up the side pin channels completely

I wonder how nickle plating would affect the lock. Do you know? Since you mentioned it, found a place not too far from here that does nickle plating. May give them a call for pricing. It might be a nice way of 'refinishing' that Protec cutaway.

As long as the actual insides and friction areas aren't done it should be fine. Its just the face and the walls of the cuts to make it look nice.
