Van Branded locks

Postby freakyclown » 27 Oct 2004 17:54

Hi Guys,

Was visiting a friend today and noticed a vending machine with a lock I hadnt seen/paid much attention to before, so on returning home I did some research and found its a VAN type lock. (one of these click Link)
A bit more searching revealed a few threads about them but not very much info on them.
As they were faily old threads I was wondering if anyone has any more upto date info on them and how to go about picking them, tools etc.

Thanks
FC

I have a very good PDF file about Van tubular locks. If you'd like a copy PM and I can send it to you. As for tools, a standard wishbone turning tool with the legs ground down to .150" will allow you to turn the cylinder without over setting any pins. I just use a straight needle probe to set the pins. I'm still working on a decoder for this lock and as soon as I finish I will post some photos and my drawing with the measurements.

When it comes right down to it, they function exactly the same as normal tubular locks. Just that they look slightly different. All this means is that you have to make a different tensioning tool for it, otherwise you pick it exactly the same.
