Axa clinch lock

Postby liberate_chains » 15 Aug 2014 11:25

Dear all,

first of all, I'm new to this forum and if I'm posting something in the wrong section, please tell me. Second, I'm relatively new to lock picking having only experience with picking some wafer locks and pin tumbler locks, so I'm still learning.

Recently I've bought a new lock for my bike, which I thought it looked pretty cool. It's called the AXA Clinch, I think it looks pretty difficult to pick, but I'm not sure what kind of mechanism it uses (maybe someone knows the name of this mechanism). It looks like a wafer lock, but I've never seen one that looks like this before. Can someone help me and identify the type of lock and the mechanism used in the lock?

An image of the AXA Clinch with its keys:

Thanks!

It's a disc detainer lock and very difficult to pick without the proper tools.
Good choice.

Ah thanks! I doubt btw that it is very safe though, since after reading the packaging the lock seems to be made out of chrome? Initially I thought the lock was also made out of hardened steel, but now I see it's chrome it means that someone with a bolt cutter or something can easily cut my lock open right?

Many hard to pick locks are vulnerable to the lock chop attack. Get a u lock! Preferably a good brand one

Chrome plated maybe so it looks shiny, but the shackle is Hardened Steel.
