SG US Model 951 2009 Picking Info

Good afternoon everyone. I have been picking for about a year as a hobby and grabbing up all the locks I can test out. I am currently making my way through the American 5200's fairly well. My old roommate had left in our room a brand new SG US Model 951 2009. I did a little research and it looks to be a beast (heavy at that).

Im wondering if anyone has any good picking advice on this batboy. I have a feeling this will be a bucket list pick and i hope to pop it before i grow to old haha.

I have a standard pick set, nothing fancy. Any recommendations on picks for this would be helpful.

Look up how to pick Medeco

All the S&G 951 is inside is a Medeco door knob cylinder. Once you understand how Medeco mechanisms work, you can pick it. It will take time and practice but is not impossible.

Thanks Squelchtone, I had looked into them in regards of rotating pins but I'm looking for any advice on how to actually rotate them... any technique out there that is useful. Is there a certain pick that works better. I use a standard hook and a perterson pry bar top of they keyway tensioner.

A half diamond or Bogota works well for turning them.

Those are tough nuts to crack. You could look up the youtube video by Bosnian Bill where he goes through picking Medeco locks. Personally, I use telekinesis to rotate the pins.

Nice! Well the force isn't that strong with me yet.... but I'm working on it.

I was trying to figure out if it has an M3 Medeco inside but I don't see a slide bar. It must be an older version.

Show us a photo of the keyway =) typically though the R1 and D4 Medeco keyways didn't use the M3 slider technology (afaik)

To rotate the pins, insert the half diamond at a \ or / 45 degree angle in order to grab the bottom right or left of the pin and pull or push it to make it twist on it's axis.

A Bogota rake from Raimundo is a great tool to have when picking Medeco, but some folks like FarmerFreak can open them with just a hook and tension wrench. I prefer to rake the angles into submission, then use a hook to pick the pins to shear line, or pick to shear line first, then rake rake rake and set the angles =)

Here she is. Now... when you get a pin rotated to the right spot, does it click? or is it just a feel? I haven't been able to find the info on what sensations set off the alarm that it's good and to move on.

I'm currently deployed at the moment, so i will have to stick to the pick set i have. It should be fine. Its the 20 piece SouthOrd set.

No no no lol, I have friends that hook me up from time to time with extras. He left it for me to play with since he knows i love picking. Trust me, nothing sinister to see here =)

The Armory gave me 10 American 5200's yesterday because they had a bunch that were missing keys. So i took them off their hands.
