flooring under you work area?

Postby lovelocks +1 » 23 Aug 2014 1:14

This may seem like a silly question, but what sort of flooring do you find useful under your work area? I have found that a dropped pin or misc. part can bounce quite a ways away from where you think it would be found. Has anybody found a type of flooring surface that helps keep the pins relatively close by? I'm tired of crawling all over my floor to find my errant pins. Help!

You could try putting some sort of rubber mat with holes beneth the work area to atleast keep the pins where they land so they dont bounce off

Just an idea, Jacob

I use a piece of office carpet with a close dense rug. Over the years I have also trained myself to follow the object to the floor and see where it lands. However you will be miles ahead if you have a work area that parts don't bounce out of.

You could use a jewelers apron. These are used to prevent bits of gold and gems getting lost so will work fine for pins too.

You could save money and use a box to take apart stuff in. Any spring-loaded parts will likely stay inside.
