Newbie Car Key Transponder Question

Postby lucicn » 1 Oct 2014 19:16

Hello i am Nikola and i have newbie car key transponder question i was hoping someone here can answer.

I got into possession of SBB silca key tool and i wanted to make a copy or program a new key for my car. By the way i am in programming bushiness but nothing to do with cars. My car is Hyundai Coupe (called Tiburon in USA) 2005 year. So first i checked for transponder type and it is Philips Crypto ID46 which i found out it is very common in automotive car key industry and i found out that my car ECU can program new keys using OBD tool and having a pin, correct me if i am wrong. I also found out that these ID46 chips are model PCF7936AS and when they are 'totally blank' they can be precoded to be ID46 chip with devices such as zedbull...etc. (correct me if i am wrong please)..

Now i see sites selling "blank" PCF7936AS ID46 chips and also i see car specific but same "PCF7936AS ID46" chips. Example "NISSAN PCF7936AS ID46" or mostly what i see is "Peugeot/Citroen PCF7936AS ID46 chip". So my question is do i need only "generic" PCF7936AS ID46 chip to program for my car or do i need specific something like HYUNDAI PCF7936AS ID46 chip? Is there any difference? I also learned that these chips can be cloned to some kind of universal TXP3/4 chips using tools but that is not my option.

I hope you understand me and sorry if not English is not my native language. Thank You

Chips can be configured to certain manufacturers while still conforming to the Crypto II standard. Your best bet is to buy a Silca blank w/ the chip/transponder already in it. Duplicate the mechanical portion (key cuts) and then use your Silca SBB (called a TKO here in the States) to program.

Your particular key is Silca part no. HYN6MH.

You have to be careful when buying transponders on the Internet; a lot of the times they're knock offs/misrepresented. It's generally a good rule of thumb to purchase the key blanks made by the programmer/cloner's manufacturer.

Just a side not to what Cofederate said:

The HYM6MH is a key with an empty head , what you need is HYN6T14. That contains a PCf7936AS precoded and ready to be programmed into a Hyundai.

Alternatively , you can get your original key cloned.
