LACK OF SLEEP....

Pull up a chair, grab a cold one, and talk about life as a locksmith. Trade stories of good and bad customers, general work day frustrations, any fun projects you worked on recently, or anything else you want to chat about with fellow locksmiths.

LACK OF SLEEP....

Postby CMS_SAFECRAKR1 » 27 Oct 2014 7:36

Just had one very busy weekend on call. I'm beat, 72 hours and about 10 hours of sleep total. Anyone want to share their experiences? What does everyone here do to keep going? I have drank so many coffees i lost count. Just curious.

I just count dollars in my sleep. I sleep like a log.

I feel like the maytag repairman usually, there isn't much work for me and what little does exist is split up amongst the 19 scammers operating in my town.
Only consolation I generally have is as the owner, I get to keep what I finds, oh and props to my accountant, I haven't paid taxes in years.

Yeah I'm sorry to hear that, I know it's starting to get a little better with the whole Bandino lawsuit against google. Seen the amount of scammer ads on google drop dramatically depending on where one lives.

I do mail order re keying, it helps on those slow days...
Small town life is hard to adjust to. When one is used to starting at 7am and when next one looks up from the work bench, it's 615 pm...
it helps me skeep when I dream of mountains of locks and one pick and no tension wrench in sight....
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

So you dream of torture? Or are you dreaming of improvising the needed tools?

I think of the money I'm (usually) making when I work one of those marathon, all weekend, all day and all night shifts. I usually avoid caffeine overnight because if I don't get any calls, I won't be able to sleep, and sleeping when you can really helps.
Compliments, lies, and cuss words all work best when rarely used.

Be happy you are busy enough to not get sleep. Sure beats having 72hr of no calls.
