Schlage padlock with medeco cylinder?

Postby doublez » 2 Nov 2014 18:09

Today, I saw an interesting lock...

It was a schlage padlock. It was gold/brass colored, and had "2809" imprinted on the side and "SCHLAGE" imprinted on the lock as well. I looked at the keyway, and it was a medeco biaxial cylinder. Is it common to see different brands of cylinders on locks? Does anyone know what padlock it is, and if it can have it's cylinder swapped out "out of the box?"

Thanks,

doublez.

Reason: it's Medeco, not Medico, fixed it for you so others can find your post in the future

Yes, it is entirely possible and fairly common. Medeco makes cylinders to fit just about every brand of lever/knob/padlock.
Hard to say without seeing the Schlage padlock, it could be a KIK or an LFIC.

Totally, I have a square-body brass schlage padlock that takes a standard schlage cylinder, I could easily swap it out for a medeco cyl
