how long is a good time to pick this lock?

hi all would someone please tell me what a good/great time to pick this lock?

Would have to see the keyway to see if pin tumbler or double sided wafer.

Tough call for me, because it is an older American and I'm not sure when they started including serrated pins in their locks. That thing looks like their 1970's logo or earlier. 5 or 6 pin? I'd say I could probably pick that under a minute on a good day, throw in some Bogotas and some luck and under 10 seconds if lucky, but a minute if you want to be consistant and using skill versus luck.

What time are you getting?

i'm getting 3 to 8 min depending.. the feedback is sketchy for me but no security pins.. def no spools.. im trying to gage my improvement with this lock.. as masters have become to easy.. so i should try to be around a min?

Well, you're getting it open, so that's already awesome, because American Lock padlocks are never what I would call "easy" I've been doing this since before I joined this forum, so about 9 years worth of on and off practice. How long have you been practicing? If you are new and only been doing this for a month or two, then I'd say 3 to 8 minutes is perfectly respectable. try to get down to 2 to 5 consistently, then try for the 1 minute mark.

thank you. yes i've only been at this for a few months. and i love it!! it's very hard to find people who do this, so it is very hard to find a gauge for improvement..i come from a small town of 1500, so my only resources come from online.. thanks to you and all here who give up there time to help with this cool friggin hobby!!

I'm the only one of my friends and family who has this hobby. It's hard to grow up alone!

I find it difficult to believe in a time factor because some locks have a simple key bitting, which makes them inherently easier to pick,
while the same manufacturer will make the same model with a more challenging key bitting that requires more time to pick open. Both locks
can be the same make & model & yet one will be much more of a challenge to open.
