Super Max Security 7-pin Practice Lock

Very cool practice lock. Wish there was a way to give MrWizard thumbs up seller feedback. Been playing around with my lock for a few days off and on. I enjoy the ease of being able to add or subtract pins easily. Great tool! Only can SPP 3 pins so far. Trying to work on my tension wrench placement in the keyway. Anyways great learning tool!

Keep at it, get you some American and US locks they are a ball to pick when you get the hang of it. You can't get used to it till you try it and stay at it. Weeks ago these locks just frustrated me now I am in love!

So I've had the lock for a few weeks now and I'm really glad I pulled the trigger and bought it. I thought I would give ya'll a little update since I've had it a while now. I've picked it with 5 pins a few times but that's not what I was focused on getting this lock for. I've had issues with being able to feel the binding pin and being able to feel when they were set. I've also had tension issues where when I used light pressure I couldn't feel a binding pin and when I applied slightly more tension the pins were so bound up they wouldn't move. I've been working with this lock with only 3 pins in it, I'll get to where I can pick the lock within a few seconds reliably then I'll switch the pins up. I haven't dove into playing with the security pins (though I have other locks with them). I'm really getting a feel for the inside of the locks and can now feel whats going on in all my other locks a lot better. I haven't even begun to tap into all the benefits of this lock. Again I would like to thank Mr. Wizard for making such a nice lock available for us to play with. I got a vice at harbor freight (on sale $16.99 couldn't resist) but now I feel like I'm starting over again, the response is totally different from what I could feel with the lock in my hands but I'm getting there slowly but surely.

Well that's about all I can think of, I hope that was informative to anyone thinking about getting this.

I just PM'd Mr.Wizard here on LP101 and told him I was interested in buying the lock. He responded about 5 minutes later and sent me all the information I needed to order it.

I like how you are coming along with your progress, keep in mind I have found that some times depending on the lock the binding pin can actually be a few pins not just one. Also keep a feel out for a gatekeeper pin that will fall every time you set a pin and requires you to set it over and over again. Whatever you do, don't fear security pins! They in my opinion are easier to set than regular pins. Keep at it man just pick everyday when you can. This may be a little embarrassing, but I keep padlocks and pick sets next to my throne so I can pick while doing the paperwork if you catch my drift!

Well I just put my order in for this practice lock. Thank you for putting this thread up and discussing it since it played a key role in me deciding to buy it. It is hard to pick something without really having some recommendation.

I ordered one of these locks and I have been playing with it for a couple of weeks now.
Ordering it was simple and it arrived in Australia pretty quickly .
The lock is well packaged and is very solid and obviously of high quality .
I had also ordered a cutaway training lock off eBay , but haven't even bothered with it, as this is an inherently better unit.
Changing pins is simple with the hex heads and Mr wizard supplies enough to keep you busy for a long time.

I ordered one a few months ago. @MrWizard was a pleasure to deal with, and the lock made it to France safely.

The keyway is rather large compared to what I'm used to (you yanks like everything big heh?) but the lock is solid.

It's one of the few re-pin'ables having 7 pins, so it can really grow with your skills. I also enjoyed the fact it comes with enough spools and serrated pins to create nearly endless advanced combinations.

I've been using it often, progressively making it harder. I can only recommend this product, a good investment clearly!

I'm fairly new to lockpicking and wanted to share my thoughts on Mr. Wizard's Practice lock.
As a beginner does, I went researching for hours on which tools and locks to start with. Tools were fairly easy to choose but the question I asked was what locks do I get & how much $$ do I need to spend.

I had a browse at my local hardware store and left more confused as I was unsure on what to get. So back to LP101 I went.

After some looking I found this thread and decided to PM Mr. Wizard as the practice lock was high quality judging from the pictures and positive comments from all.
Money wise I thought purchasing a practice lock made sense as well as the hardware store did not look like the cheap option.

Purchase of the lock was very easy, Richard was very quick with all communication and shipping was fast.
When I received the lock I was impressed with how it was packed! (Good use of bubble wrap).

When I seen the contents I was impressed at the quality of all components. The lock came with a good selection of pins, as well as spare springs & grub screws as well.
After some use I can report that this lock is top notch and will be great for a beginner like me, all the way up to an experienced picker.

The ability to change pins quickly as well as being able to add or remove a chamber to the mix is definitely the way to go.
I find sometimes I need to drop back from 4 pins to 3 to get my feel back if I don't pick for a few days.

I would highly reconmend this practice lock to anyone starting or in need of some fun. I have found the investment to be very worth while for my learning and slightly addictive

I just got Mr Wizard's lock kit and am extremely happy with it. There are so many different pieces and ways to change the lock up and that is awesome! I'm a newbie to lock picking and also purchased the PXS-14 - Beginners Lock Pick Set. Mr Wizard was very prompt in replying to my messages and the transaction went very smooth. Loved my practice lock -- and got so tired of my buddie's "forgetting" to get it back when we combined lock picking with a bottle of wine -- that I recently sent Mr Wizard a note, realizing my friend's birthday was fast approaching it'd be the perfect gift. I'm a beginner picker but have understood the working of locks for some time. I tried picking a #3 master with some home made picks and could never get it. So I bought some picks online and within 5 mins picked the #3 plus two different china locks I had on hand (this was two days ago). I wanted something that could grow with me so after some research I joined LP101 just to contact Mr Wizard about (from what I hear) great practice lock. After waiting all of 5 mins I had a reply from him with all the info I need about his PL. 5 mins later I had ordered and it was shipped out that night (mind you I contacted him just after 5pm PST) and received it today (less then 48 hr from contacting him). I am blown away by the quality of it. Right away I noticed I have been over torquing, now I'm picking 3 pins in under 30 secs and i'm about to drop pin #4 in. I'm very very happy with my purchase, anyone looking for a practice lock or to step your game up should definitely look at the Mr Wizard improved super max 7pin practice lock. OK I was wrong I'm down to 3 pins in under 10 secs. Definitely time to add the 4th pin already. I live this thing so much.
