Haha thanks! It was plagiarised though :p blue60 wrote:Happy New Year My First cutaway of the year yes I know the 4th chamber is empty, the key pin fell onto my shop floor and is gone forever. I hope to replace it soon.
What made you instinctively go for this side to cut on the Medeco? I take it this was your first? If it is, then well done... I found out the hard way not to cut the opposite side :/ Do love the Medecos though, you can literally butcher them and they still work fine. Definitely have a go cutting the slug... they show up real good. http://s2.postimg.org/84dmm1msp/427445_ ... 4374_n.jpgI'll leave this one below to inspire.... it's always a good idea to think outside of the box http://s2.postimg.org/xbt401fah/548978_ ... 3451_n.jpg

Warning!!! Do not look at the Abloy Snowyboy posted above if you have been drinking. Both of those locks are beautifully done, Snowyboy. Gordon

I was half pissed when I made that >_< Definitely think I've got some competition these days now though... I did always say to those who thought I was a magician that anyone can do what I do, they just need the proper tools, that's all!

Not anybody can do what you do, Snowyboy. Blue60 is also capable of things that many are not. There are people who have difficulty disassembling a flashlight (torch), let alone a lock. Cutting it accurately? Even less so.

wow, somehow I have missed all these post's Must be the fact I was busy shopping for some DRO's for the mill. SnowyBoy: I did one Medeco before this one it was a KIK, the reason for the side I chose was so you could see the sidebar and pins, and I did mill the plug check out the Album that Abloy was kinda a inspiration for my Medeco (and I was more then a little hungover when I milled it ). I am looking forward to seeing that once it's done... or apart I like Gut shots of locks and Gordon, your words are to kind, Like SnowyBoy said its not magic, but I do find that prayer during assembly does help

Think you would find that Snowyboy agrees about prayer during reassembly. That or cursing. Something about the Vachette AXI Home being blacklisted after he did mine makes me think the latter. Gordon

Oh God, don't! That Vachette was a nightmare.... the funny thing is (being half French and all) is "Vache" means "cow - an it certainly was. To cut, and to assemble! Saying that though, most of the praying occurs when the locks are in the post these days

I have the same problem with cast aluminium, my 2 flute end mill has less problems then a 4 flute. Here is a shot of some locks I was working on today.

Very nice work there blue!! Cast Ali can be a pain depending on the age and level of heat treat, sometimes it feels like machining chewing gum! Use sharp HSS 2-3 flute or uncoated carbide and try some WD-40 if you begin to get chip weld, keep up the great looking Cutaways. Been messing with some SFIC cores over the weekend...

Thanks L0ck
Those are some nice SFIC's one thing about them you have to mill all the way to the top or you will not see the full pin stack. My problem is with SFIC's is not alot of material on them so you are somewhat limited on what you can do with them

Nice SFIC - exactly how I cut mine (all three pieces together) except I don't do the square cut. I cut go straight in at 2mm.
Shame that the one I sent Gordon got nicked in the post, was lovely, as is yours.
