It reminds me of a prototype I tested time ago for a local company. If this is the case, the purpose of that strange "mastered" lock is to defeat impressioning and picking attempts. Do you know which brand the lock is?

Cheers :)

It does look strange, doesn't even have a threaded body. I wish you had taken a pick from the front, where the key enters it

well actualy i don't know there is no name on the lock. and i think the name is on the key  .
So if somebody makes something like a mastered lock , you should say that it will become easier to pick. what do you advice. i dont have the peterson pro-1 . maybey that would do the job.

Well if you could take it all apart like you did, I don't see why You can't just make a key, especially if it uses a regular 137 type key.

well actually the purpose is to defeat the little bastard. if you encounter such a lock i would like to know why its not pickable with the normal southord. its not like an ace 2 lock

Hi lockkiller1984,

I'm interested in finding out more about this lock, for example where did you find it and if there are places where this is used. PM me if you don't want to tell something publicly.
I've talked to the company who made a similar prototype some time ago and they said it's not theirs. It's curious that a very similar product was made by someone else.

About picking it, I've tried and successfully picked one by SPP. The problem is that you don't know if you're picking it right so it may take many attempts before you succeed. Like a best lock.
I have the peterson pro1 but I don't remember if it worked on this type of lock. I may try it again in the next days and let you know if it works.

Thank you :)

Reminds me of a 12 pin field rekeyable tubular lock in my collection.

Femurat is correct that it is similar to the way a Best SFIC functions with the two distinct shear lines. One shear line handles normal cam lock operation, while the other shear line is for rekeying the lock. You use a control key to turn the lock core to a different position, which rekeys the lock.

Hey Gordon, I've seen a picture of that rekeyable lock... you may be right! So it's a completely different lock. Great.

Thanks :)

I'd honestly be more worried about this lock if it was a different sized key than the 137 key, If my pick won't fit these I just destroy them and replace them with a lock that does fit my pick
It is interesting that it has no threaded body, makes me wonder how it is attatched to anything?
