Corbin Russwin Electric Mortise Lock

Hey Locksmiths,

I was in the middle of installing an electric Mortise lock made by Corbin and noticed that the space on the lock face where the cylinder set-screw(s) go has a gray plastic insert blocking the usual place for the cylinder set screw. The plastic piece doesn't see to pull out. Anybody know how you secure the cylinder from a vice grip type attack?

Must be something new. Can you post a photo. I've always found a set screw as per norm. In fact it clearly shows a set screw for the ECL models.

As fate would have it, where I work has a ton of electric Corbin/Russwin mortise locks. Nearly all the ones we have use conventional setscrews but I saw one that uses a different setup: It has a rocker arm at the rear of the case with a screw that drives it ABOVE where they normally are. Sorry, couldn't find pix and I don't have time to take one.

What do the instructions say?

Has to have something holding in the cylinder.

No charge! It threw me too, when I saw it. I don't think there is any other mortise lock, past or present, that works that way.
