I have a VERY old brass Railroad pad lock

this has 1 key its very worn out the key itself has a tab on the end of it with a hollow inside in order to open it with the key you insert the key and turn turn turn turn turn until the shackle pops open,My question is what would i use to pick this lock open? btw this weighs a ton, its solid brass on also it has a key keeper built in once the key is turned there a latch that drops down and holds the key in until the shackle is closed again will that be a problem to pick?

Can you post a picture of the lock and key? it will help others answer you're questions and you get to showoff your lock to the rest of the members

If you have the key, and it is an old antique, why do you want to pick it? it sounds like a nice collectible to put on the shelf.

Is it in use somewhere and someone else has the key?

Greetings fellow pickers..
I have 2 very old solid brass G&W Railroad locks,and was wondering if anyone has a clue how to bypass these locks,they do have a key keeper in them to keep the key inside the lock untill it's closed again and i only have 1 key and it only works with 1 of the 2 locks which means i have no key for the other one. heres some pics

If you want to make a key for the second lock, look for a blank similar to the key you have. Then you could be able to impression it to fit the lock. You'll need time and patience, and more than one blank. Or you could just bring them to a locksmith and he'll make a key for you.
