Piece of metal stuck in lock

Please Help me. My darling daughter has jammed a tiny screwdriver in to out patio door lock which has the snapped of and disappeared inside. I think it is now laying on the bottom of the lock. Now the key will not go all the way into the lock on either side of the door. The door is currently locked. I can see a pin which drops down, one on either side, but a wall does not allow me a good view.

My question are:

Is the lock hollow inside and the screw driver end possible no longer horizontal?

As the lock is completely sealed in the patio door can a locksmith change the centre of the lock or will a complete new lock be needed?

Any ideas on a cheap fix?

what exactly does the lock look like ? is it a large keyhole shape which is a euro profile ? Basically have a look at a few other upvc doors and see if its the same as those and most likely its a euro.

you could call out a lokcsmith, who would either try to extract it usoing a broken key extractor of some kind, or as a last resort, hopefully, would drill the cylinder.

This would then allow him to both open the door, and then fit a new cylinder, but not a whole lock, which can work out better due to your door being permanently locked,

If youknow anything about locksmithing/picking, you might understand how a lock works so you could try to get it out yourself, with a piece of wire, if you attempt this, make sure you don't make it any worse, i wont be held blame,

My advice would be to get at it with a key extractor, failing that remove the door and place horizontally over two chairs so the face of the lock is facing downwards and gently shake the door back and forth.
If your lucky you might be able to entice it out with a thin bit of wire and a large magnet.

When you have failed to extract it or made it worse by digging it deeper/snapping something else off inside) act professionally and like an adult, call a professional locksmith and blame everything on your daughter then tell your wife that you fixed it!

Strange, my friend suggested that earlier today!
i don't think this would work, but it would be best it you could post a pic of of the lock
