So one of my admin guys at work says to me that he's got a cabinet that's locked open and he's lost the key. After seeing the lock, I told him best I can do is swap it out for a different lock type and key. Easy day.

So, here's the lock I removed. Looks like some weird dimple/tubular hybrid...thing. I poked at it for a bit at learned nothing. What's going on here?

I cannot answer your question, but I had the same problem a few years ago. One of mine was locked, but I just destroyed it.

Have seen similar locks without the post in the center. Saw steering wheel locks for a while, and have seen a lock or two out of Taiwan like that.

The cabinet was already open so it was just a couple of screws in this one, so I decided to pocket it.

Any idea how to open it, other than my rotary tool?

Make a tensioner that levers that cut-out section in the circle around the keyway off of the center plug. Then use a half diamond to try lifting the pins, finding which ones are binding and go from there.
