I had decided a while ago that I needed to learn to SPP. Now I find that I can SPP things I cannot otherwise pick, or can at least SPP them faster and more reliably than other methods. Now I kinda feel like raking and jiggling , etc are kinda gimmicky approaches. They are great for competitive lock pickers, but I want a maximum range of lock opening ability with a minimum tool set. First, any comments on my thinking thus far? Secondly, I have a minimal pick set and am looking to expand upon it. what recommendations would ya'll make regarding SPP picks (and tensioners for that matter?) Thanks

There's a time and place for every approach, IMHO.
Sometimes you need a little raking, rocking, jiggling and other juju just to get a false set. Then you can start SPPing ....
You can surely SPP a lock using only the SPP technique, but it can be frustrating, if not downright painful at times.
I think the "answer" is "whatever is the most fun for you" .... If you're strictly a hobbyist and not a professional "on the clock" locksmith, then time isn't a factor. If you get it open in 10 minutes, an hour, tomorrow or next week, its OK.
Again - whatever is the most fun for you is what you should be doing ....

Don't feel weird. I started with SPP and it's still my go to method. I find it to be more personal like, I don't know, killing someone with a knife instead of a gun.
Let's not get things wrong here with that statement, I DO love firearms.

Let's not get things wrong here with that statement, I DO love firearms. But don't get him wrong here. He still feels that there ain't nothing like the feel of killing with a knife... very personal. Just kidding, Comrade. Gordon
Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

I realized the phrasing after submitting the message, figured I'd leave it for a laugh.
