i see several UK shops selling bumping springs and washers to use as dampeners.

Can any one point out any US or Canadian shops selling dampeners for lock bumping.

As an alternative to the usual hardware springs and washers you could try using Elastrator rings if you know a livestock veterinarian or rancher.

That's oddly crafty. Like, far as far can far in the field of improv and creativity. I have to ask how you learned that.

I'm agreeing with 2octops. My Ace hardware is phenomenal.

But the best place for hardware and/or most tools has to be McMaster Carr. www.McMaster.com

I love them and use them about every week for work. Great selection. Great customer service. And the best website for a vendor that I have ever seen. It is still a wonder to me that after decades no one can even come close to their website.

But I will tell you. I too tried to duplicate Bosnian Bill's video and have spent too much money and haven't found anything that pops the key back out as well as my thumb and forefinger. I guess he was lucky with those castrating rubber bands. But I have even tried to buy those but didn't pull the trigger on them as you have to buy a huge quantity at once from my local feed store.

I say, browse McMaster Carr, find somthing else to buy, and keep using your finger for bumping.

I have used little springs from faucet kits at Home Depot and the green castrator rings you can pick up a bag of 100 for $5 (US) on Amazon. Both work well.

I have purchased elastrator bands (also listed as castration bands) off Amazon and they work quite well but typically require you to have trimmed the shoulder of your bump keys back slightly. They certainly work better than the rubber washers I had used previously and are cheap enough that you don't have to worry when they wear out.

Even with buffers of any kind you will still end up with some marks if you have to strike more than once or twice.
