Can't get past 3 pins and a sidebar!!!!

Postby BSG_314159 » 14 Mar 2015 21:56

So I'm working on a medeco cylinder that came out of a 833C S&G. I started with one pin and the sidebar to get a feeling of what it feels like for that side bar to engage under tension. I am picking the lock counterclockwise. After opening the cylinder a 1000 times I added one more pin. Picked it open again until I felt comfortable. Now once I added a third pin I can't seem to pick it open. I did not use any mushroom pins yet because I wanted to get comfortable with the sidbar.

Any helpful tips???

I know I just have to keep at it and it will open but it's really beating me up.

You haven't mentioned rotation of pins, how are you achieving that? and can you list the current angles of the 1st,2nd, and 3rd chamber?

I am rotating the pins with a hook and a groove grabber I made. I use a 45 degree angle approach with my hook then turning the hook to rotate the pins. Then if that fails I use my groove grabber to turn those pins.

Remove the side bar and pick those 3 pins, so if it is the pins/mushroom driver pins or if it is an issue with sidebar angles.

and show us a pic of your medecoder! =)

Don't judge... first attempt and my Dremel was on its last leg.

She's beautiful! Looks like like the one jkthecjer made for me when he was making them. I have to rescure/reglue and recalibrate the piano wire where it goes into the Exacto knife head on mine, it got loose over time.

do those tools really work? Ive heard people talk about making them but never a video of someone using them.
Ive had a little luck with a peterson gem but I cant rotate the pins consistently to where I want them.

They work on the older locks, but not on any Medeco with ARX pins.
