can anyone please tell me what a feeler pick is for?

I se these feeler picks on the storm lock pick website and they just look like a straight edge with a handle. does anyone use them? if so, what for?

The one with a point on it kind of looks like a knife tool used for some bypass techniques. But it is 23 thousanths. Seems a little thick to me.

Maybe they are just used to "feel" how many pins are in a tumbler by raising the pins and hearing them click down when you remove the pick. Although an upside down half-diamond would work just as well.

Used a DIY one like this just yesterday to pop out a shackle.

Also, if managed to the right size, they can be used as an ATLAS U-change repinning key.

If you take a look at "Lock Pick Design and Engineering" that is linked on various places on this forum, on Page 5 it outlines how a probe works. I've never used one, but after reading the technical paper (I wouldn't exactly call it a book) it sounds like it would be a very useful technique for decoding a lock.

With the right light often times many wafer locks can be decoded. Peterson makes some wafer readers that take reading to the
next level, by allowing You a better angle to see more clearly

dang! i tried to read that and it was as confusing as all get-out. couldn't make heads now tails of it. seemed to be advocating for these SAK picks tho.
