Decent hole saws?

Postby Jburgett2nd » 5 Apr 2015 23:41

I bought a new drill and an Irwin deadbolt installation kit, the hole saws in it seem pretty flimsy I searched the forum and couldn't find anything on them. The ones that came with the kit did go through my practice door but it seemed like they weren't very efficient. I will try sharpening the blades for the time being.

Good hole saws will say "Bi-Metal" I usually buy mine from (800) use-enco, a machinist supply house as they are much cheaper there. Starret makes a good hole saw

I have several different sets, But I like the one Divinorum posted. I think it's important to have them in some sort of case. and once the hole saws start getting dull you can just get new saws at home depot. Cuz it doesn't matter how good the hole saws are, you're going to dull them and need replacements. they will fit the standard mandrels.

Lots of the standard hole saw kits out there include all the standard contractor sizes and not always all the common locksmith sizes.

"Designed for the locksmith", eh? Then where did they put the 3/4" hole saw at?
I use that one for cam locks, & how about the 9/16" & 5/8" for peep holes?
These people don't know much about the locksmith trade
