So I will break down my sanding steps.
Step 1 use 320 sandpaper to scratch up the pick and shave some excess off.
Step 2 use 800 (dry) for 15 seconds each side and around the edges.
Step 3. Use 800 (wet) about 15 seconds each side as well.
Step 4. Use 1000 (wet) Same as step 3.
Step 5. Use 2000 (wet) shine time!! I fold the sand paper in half and very carefully without stabbing a finger run the pick back and forth inside the sand paper.

Nice work. I thought they were too long until I saw the padlock for scale. Make yourself some fingertip guards out of duct tape and you'll wonder how you ever did without.

Thanks!! I used my southord max yield lock picks to determine the length of the exposed bristle/pick and the length of the brass handle. I wish i would of made them a little bit shorter so they could fit inside my sparrows case. Time to make a custom case for these custom picks!!

Very nice and shiny picks! I like the cylindrical handle! It reminds me my bamboo one, but I guess brass it's a lot easier to fit because you don't risk to split it if you press too much.

So the brass handles actually provide a lot of feedback when picking. It believe this will be my metal of choice in my handles for everything. I made a couple of tension wrenches as well with bristles and brass tubing.

I want a bamboo one tho... now to buy some bamboo!!! haha!

Can highly recommend the bamboo handles. Have a dimple lock pick made by femurat with a bamboo handle. The round handle is also great to use on a dimple lock pick since you need to turn the pick to lift the pins.

I want to make my own picks but I dont think I will be able to make mine look half as good as those BSG! that one looks like a mirror..

I just picked up a couple stainless steal knives from the dollar store. One is .045 and the other is .050 so I am going to attempt to make some Top of keyway tension wrenches. I have a couple that I bought but I need some to bend in one direction or another.

I am still looking for stainless steel that is between .025 and .030 for picks.

Have you thought of using a set screw and tapping a hole in one of the handles? Then you would only need one handle and you can just switch out the picks as needed. Just an idea for maybe a pocket set. You could even cap the back end of the tubing and use the handle to store a couple go to picks!

That's how I make mine. It saves so much time not having to make handles for each pick. I have to say though, BSG's picks look much nicer than mine, I don't put as much effort into polishing.

Use a 1/64th Allen set screw (I think that's the size) or whatever size they use in the practice lock plugs that should work out great. Whenever you finish post them so I can see and send me a pm so I know they're up. Glad I could help!
