So after repinning my new 5200s with security pins I was going to just throw the old pins away... thank goodness I didnot. After searching the interwebs I could not find mushroom pins for masterlock and american padlocks. Just the spool pins and serrated pins we all know that come in them.
So I decided to make my own mushroom pins with some files standard pins and a cordless drill.
Step 1:
Get yourself a dull pin... driver or key pin works.

Step 2:
Very carefully insert the pin of your choice into the cordless drill.

Step 3:
Get a tool that will shave off some metal. I have a collection of hand files that have all sorts of shapes. My weapon of choice was the half sphere like shape because it creates that mushroom cut.

Step 4:
Go at it. I probably messed one or two before getting a couple to my liking. The fun part is you creat your mushroom... does not have to be perfect and I will test them out tomorrow to see how they pick

Before and after

I will like to call this a cross bread spool mushroom. It does have a slope even tho its not to noticeable in the picture.

The best part is you control the level of security!! Every mushroom pin and every serrated pin will be unique and a challenge.
I will use a Dremel in lieu of the cordless drill tool next weekend to see how those results.
