what are check pins and finger pins?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what a check pin is and also what a finger pin is, please.

Can you find the search button at the left or at the top of the screen? That will magically bring up posts with them.

You can also look for pictures of Schlage Everest for check pins, and ASSA Twin for finger pins.

I can find the search box. Entering "Finger Pins" returns 39 listings, all mutations of the two search words Finger and/or Pins.

Not one of those search results defines finger pins.

So...What are finger pins?

Finger pins are used in conjunction with a side bar.. The pins have grooves cut in the side that allow the sidebar to disengage.. Usually the grooves vary in depth acting almost like another bidding for the side bar to slip into ..

Check pin acts similar but is just one pin that has to be raised to a specific height so the cylinder will turn .. The key has a groove cut in the side for this pin to ride in..

You should put in for advanced forums access, where such locks are discussed. That is probably why you did not find my topic on breakdown of an ASSA Twin Combi, showing finger pins.
