How get suitcase lock numbers combination

Hi Guys. Yup, the "usual" from what I am researching. Was given a suitcase (Skyway brand) that has a locked lock but prior owner did not have the numbers to dial to to open the lock. That is the problem. I have a Skyway suitcase that is locked and do not know the numbers to dial to in order to get the lock open and thus get the suitcase open.

hi diligent, im new here as well, and found it better to introduce myself first, before posting a question about how to 'bypass' a lock, which is considered restricted to new guys like us in this forum. but welcome to the site! do you have a picture of the suit case? also, do you collect any locks? are you a hobby lock picker?

Thanks for the info wrench. Guess all I can say on the "bypass" is that when a person gets a free suitcase on Craigs list from a reasonably near neighbor who did not know the combo, there really is no negative connotation to that sort of transaction.

Hello, back from the patio pic taking (and a few chops on some firewood for the wood stove). Just took four pics with closer shots of the seemingly usual combo lock except it does not have a reset button pinhole or the like (from what I could see). Cannot figure out how to attach the pics so will do so soon.

Thanks again for your input. Always a breath of fresh air to see a person(s) display his/her/their thoughts.

Someone emailed me not to discuss lock bypassing, in public forum,so taking those words in thier common mreaning I will not discuss that particular subject here I guess. I saw key access discussions like as in picking a lock but did not see what forum it was done in.

Any idea in what forum this subject can be discussed?

WELLLL what do you know!! When I Google lock by passing & the like, their is an abundance of discussions on that subject. That will keep me busy for a while. Thanks for that tip guys!! Diligent

My Dad usually would just sit on the couch and try every number, while he watched tv. I'm assuming your luggage lock has three wheels
It really doesn't take long to try 1,000 numbers and unless You are having an unlucky day odds are You'll open it
within the first 500 numbers, kinda. Don't forget to try to fully depress the catch after each new number you try

I can't say I agree with wikipedia's definition, and I often question wikipedia's articles as being a reputable source of knowledge. I consider picking locks with lock picks "lockpicking" and I consider bypassing a lock "bypassing a lock" bypassing is not lockpicking in my book, even though a lay person or whoever wrote the wikipedia entry may see them as one in the same.

@ Squelchtone the wonderful thing about this USA, is that we have the common right which is freely exercised to my applause to speak our mind about what we think. What you and others online think about what "bypassing" means is a right we all appreciate.

One thing I notice though, there is at least one rule speaking to "by passing". to be effective, the term needs to be defined not by some one or limited person(s) own definition but rather be identified in a definitive way so all persons know its meaning.

And no, I have not got the combo lock open on my newly acquired small Skyway brand suitcase. Any more ideas besides or in addition to the thoughts of billdeserthills above?

wow, ain't you a philosophizer..

there is no other ideas or tricks, otherwise we would have told you.. its a simple 3 digit combination; start dialing and get it open. You'd have it done by now if you weren't wasting time expounding your thoughts and opinions to us. sheesh.

locking this thread as you do not seem satisfied with our advice and are hoping for some trick to open that thing.
