rekey straight shackle

rekey straight shackle

Hey guys need some help getting into this straight shackle padlock open for rekeying it is a black & decker by kwikset i can't find it anywhere online. Assuming it is held in this small pin on out sid3 of case but didn't want to drill. Anyone familiar? :lol:

Hello,

A photo of your lock and of this pin would help us give you more accurate advice.

Upload photos to imgur.com or tinypic.com and Copy/Paste their address in your reply.

Not all padlocks are meant to be taken apart and rekeyed, some use special keys to remove the core.

Not sure why the links arent working for you, thats weird..

I don't know how to take that lock apart or if you can without getting that pin out, it may be a job for a locksmith vs a do it yourselfer.

Perhaps other members here can chime in if they know. check back in a bit.

I fixed your post, you dont have to keep replying with that link ;-)

that style of padlock is commonly known as a monoblock or shutter padlock by the way. Maybe using those words as search terms you will find more info on rekeying them or if it is even possible on that model.

thanks alot @squelchtone got it that time i actually am a new locksmith and picking up all of the hands on as i go. I wanted to live in Costa Rica so i saw a need and i got my certification, and started a locksmith company here 4 months in and feeling a lot more confident now then i was. Haha Also i am very much starting to enjoy picking

You definitely must remove that pin to take the lock apart. Expect it to be difficult to drill.

Ok so i believe i have the pin out but still cant remove the innards, with key with out key locked and unlocked i kept thinking there must be more pin along edges but i am pretty sure i have all of it clear of its shear line. Something i'm missing? Any tricks? Thanks guys!!
