Rotating Plug

So I have a bike lock cable made by Master that had to be cut due to a lost key. I keep running into the same problems while attempting to pick it. First I have a hard time getting my normal hook below the back pin because of the warding. This isn't as big of a concern but I was wondering what some people's favorite picks were for locks with tight wardings that aren't necessarily narrow.

My main dilemma is that i'm confused on the tension. if I use my normal amount of light tension no pins seem to bind but then when I put medium tension the plug turns an easily noticeable amount. After it stops again I can get some pins to stick out of their rest position but i feel like I'm applying too much tension. Then just for fun I tried to get pins to stick out of their rest position while turning the plug halfway between where it rests with no tension and where it stops with maximum tension and I was able to hear the clicks when i released the tension.

How much tension should I apply?

Any Ideas of what is occurring inside the lock?

Because you are new here and have 2 posts and this post is to do with a bike lock and no photo is provided we will tread carefully with how much info we can share. We simply don't know you, nothing personal. I also see your email address is a high school system account.. although there's nothing wrong with that, in the last 10 years I've found certain age groups of pickers get in more trouble and shenanigans with their skillz than others.

* There are certain types of locks here that even though they are common, such as high school locker combination padlocks, vending machine locks, bike locks, utility meter locks, etc, they are considered off limits because they protect people's stuff or products and we want to make sure bad guys don't use google and find our posts here and get a free education.

Just by chance, is this a Master Python lock? If so, please, as requested, post a pic.

sorry about that. I really do own this lock and am purely interested in advancing my skills. Im not sure what type of lock it is but i taped the ends so the wires would stop catching on things.

I can't get any pictures of the plug itself because our normal lens to our camera recently broke on a climbing expedition so i had to use our zoom lens which can't focus on anything as small as i need to.
