Please edit/limit your signature line to 80 pixels high, we want to avoid walls of posts that are mostly made of signatures, I know some forums allow that.

Thanks,

Some one correct me if I am wrong here but I think that a key decoder like that is just for cutting keys, to get the correct depth of the groove to cut it alike. When I have pinned some kwiksets I inserted the pre cut key and just put in different pins til I found the ones that made the sheer line.

Good :?: now you got me thinking if it will work or not. I did some research but couldn't find nothing on it.

Jburgett2nd your plan works well if OP had a full LAB kit in front of him or buys all 0 through 9 bottom pins baggies and can then drop pins into the plug to match the pre-cut key inserted into the plug.

martinrdgz your plan with the decoder is good if you decode your pre-cut keys and then only order the bottom pin baggies you actually need.

Thank you for clarifying, as you know I am just learning my way around as well and would hate to give faulty information.

So then it will work. All baggies have a number #1,#2,#3 and so on till #9, same as the Schlage decode, so for example after decoding the key I could just buy those #s that the Schlage decoder gave me right? All I have to do is match the key decoder #s with the baggie pins #s

If you use a factory key the cuts are generally on the key, so no decoder needed. I prefer calipers to a decoder, but even they aren't needed.

OK sorry for the delay I've been trying to pick this Schlage LFIC for about 2 weeks now and have had no luck with it, till I decide it today to shim it out with a piece of an aluminum 12oz soda can, and control key blank. Now I'll be able to re-key this LFIC 8) to a Pre-cut SC4 Schalge key then duplicate it to the key blank control key. Thanks to all who helped me out. Below is the actual photo of the Schlage LFIC.

It is nice to see you have been successful so far and are making progress with your Schlage IC lock. In your photo the plug is still showing the control pin in the small 7th position, this pin can fall out like any of the key pins and you will need to keep this in mind while handling the plug.

Thanks! nick08037 now I have re-keyed 15 other locks aside from Schlage... Yale, Kwikset, Master, and Brinks. It's nice having my own toolbox and pining kit.
