FlexStrong's New Lock

I just read about this innovative new lock, it is spring loaded and has been tested to be 800% more effective than a leading lock & deadbolt at stopping forced entry!
The inventor a once upon a time swat team member experienced a rough opening one evening at work, when a criminal stuffed a rolled-up rubber mat inside his
entry door, to keep out the cold. The spring action of the mat made the door extremely hard for this inventor to breach it and that gave him the impetus to develop
this lock. www.flex-strong.com

It is currently sold as an inside lock only, a really neat idea to keep a door from being forced open

Interesting idea. Nice to see people coming up with new stuff. Only downside is I can see how you might be able to bypass it pretty easily once you knew it was there.

Kicking a door is not the best persuasive proof, I think. How can we know that the guy used the same strenght when he kicked the door in showed cases? :)

An independant lab used a 100lb ram to strike the door repeatedly. Doors that were secured with only a deadbolt & knob lock were seriously undermatched against this new product

I do agree that it would make more sense in that way, but I just like doors that swing inward. I would rather beef it up a little bit, or maybe a lot a bit. I don't know why, but they're are probably other reasons for having doors swing inward, but if it works fine over there, I don't see why it wouldn't work over here. Maybe others know why doors are made to swing in.

On one of my houses it swings in and the other it swings out. In some areas that get snow you want a door to swing in so you can open the door with snow pushed against it. If the house has steps leading to the front door you would want it to open inward. In Florida I prefer them to swing out so that they seal better against the wind.

I think for the wind, outward swinging is a good idea, I never thought of that. I just thought though, that if they swing out, it leaves the hinges vulnerable. That's the only downside I see right now.

If You want a security screen door then they need to open inward

1. Drill four or five good sized holes in the door jamb on the same side as the hinges.

2. Run a 5/16" (8 mm) bolt in most of the way into the holes, leaving about 3/4" (19mm) sticking out not counting the head of the bolt.

3. Now cut off the head of the bolt.

4. Slowly close the door until the edge of the door starts to hit the bolts enough to leave a mark in the door edge.

5. Drill a hole in the door edge at each of the marks deep enough for the bolt to fit in, allowing the door to close.

Now when someone pulls the door hinge pins out, the door will not come out of the door jamb. ;)

I like to use the 3" wood screws that come with a schlage deadbolt, we usually pull a screw from the door hinge, it makes cutting them much harder to find

Why do you have them swing outwards?

sorry.. but I don't trust the lock or the company..

the simple fact that in their own video they don't even use the deadbolt when the guy kicks the door in.. plus. the strike plate is still on the frame..

I call BS on the video..

I wonder what would happen if someone asked for the specifics of the test.. if it was truly independently tested, the report should be available to view..

eg..

1) how was the ram used? hand held, mounted on a mechanical mount? rope mounted?

2)How much force (speed) was use on the ram?

3)"The average male cannot generate the amount of distributed force that the 100 pound ram produced during the tests. " prove this by showing the details on the claim..
