Interesting. None of my Medecos (so far) have had ARX pins of either type so I was going off of Open In Thirty Seconds which seemed to indicate that the "micro milled" pins were the only type of ARX pins.

I will have to look up the page number but I was certain that they showed several different ARX pins and the years they produced them. I know it showed more than 2 variations of ARX pins in Open In Thirty Seconds.

Keep in mind, ARX was a system, a way of pinning up a lock, adding some extra anti-drill defenses, randomizing which kinds of top and bottom pins were used in each lock of the system, and offering some features such as lack of Medeco logo to make the lock look like something plain or common. I'd love to get my hands on a vintage Medeco ARX system cylinder with no logo and the extra drill protection and chalk full of naughty pins.

What we call ARX pins should probably be called milled or micro milled Medeco pins, but it sure rolls off the tongue easier to just say "ARX pin". Normal Medeco pins are broached all the way through, which is what allows Medecoder style tools to hook the pin and turn it.
