My Abus Granit bicycle lock (picture heavy)

I use an Abus Bordo Granit X disc detainer lock. So far nobody has AFAIK attempted to break it. Hopefully a thief will move on to another bicycle. My bicycle looks a bit old fashioned too, which probably makes it less desirable.



Folds compact but is quite heavy. Holder can be velcro strapped to bike or mounts on standard water bottle mounts.


Comes with a pair of keys, one lighted. The all important card to order spares.


Lighted key.


Lock folded.


Opening up.


Forming a loop.


I don't use the holder. I use the velcro loops and slide it under my saddle.


It sticks out a bit but is secure.


It doesn't get in the way of my luggage.


I haven't tried it with the saddle bag yet, but I would probably carry it inside the bag.

None of my distributors sell this lock. If you know of any who do please let me know as I would love to stock them. All my distributors sell Abus but not the really good stuff.

I have gotten some hard to find parts from idn-west, but it can take months until they make a qualifying order

I tried through IDN here in Orlando. They too go out of their way to find unusual stuff for us but no dice on this lock.

Nice lock. I had never seen Abus' X-Plus design before (I have plenty of Abus Plus for my gear cases that go to security conferences with me).

The bike started life as a 1953 Wearwell Tour Of Britain, but the frame and head-badge are the only original parts. Everything else I built or bought, generally of high quality. The bike when I got it was a mess so I blasted the frame, had it powder-coated, internally rust proofed, added some braze-ons for front an rear internal brakes. The frame was twisted so I had to cold reset it.









The front brake braze on for the reaction arm is a cam from a National cam lock!
