From the pictures you showed, the cylinder is still in the knob. When you unscrewed the retainer screw, if the key had not been in the lock, the entire cylinder would have come out. This gives you access to the back of the cylinder so you can reload the springs and top pins. Try pushing through the screw hole or pulling from the front. And, like Cledry said, screw the retaining screw down only until the key moves in and out smoothly and do not tighten it more. There should have been a 1/4" spring in the back of the plug. You must have it to make everything work right. Good luck.
