Making a key from masterkeyed padlock?

Ok so I have this Master #17 padlock that is masterkeyed with a few other locks. I lost the key a while ago so before I make time to take it to the locksmith, I just wanted to know:

1) is it possible for them to make a working masterkey from the one lock i bring in?
2) what's the price range for this service?

You could impression it.

Well you have a five pin lock there. This makes determining the master key more difficult, or at least more time consuming. You really should bring ALL of the locks to the locksmith. It helps significantly if you have all or even some of the change keys for the lock.

My thought was that impressioning would create a key that works for that particular lock, but not necessarily the masterkey. I can't bring any of the other locks because the are welded onto chains. I had to cut this one off of it's chain which I will have to replace

But you have NONE of the keys? Even if you have one of the change keys, it will be helpful, even more so if you can bring the change key AND the lock it operates. Assuming that you have a single level master system; one master key, not a bunch of submasters etc, the process should be rather simple. Without the change key, the process becomes a bit harder, longer and more expensive.

Nope none . These locks weren't installed by me and all I had was the one key which promptly disappeared. I might just sacrifice another lock, since that would understandably make the process easier.

If you've lost both the masterkey and change key(s) then you DEFINITELY need to have your locks rekeyed or replaced. Simply making new keys is not going to help. You've lost whatever security your padlocks could offer.
