Help finding locks

Postby Senses » 6 Jun 2015 4:12

Hi,

I've recently looked at the KABA penta series of eurocylinder locks. http://www.kaba.com/access-control/en/solutions/mechanical-lock-cylinders/332602/kaba-penta.html I really like the fact that you can take out the whole locking mechanism by simply unscrewing 1 screw. Are there any other eurocylinder locks that have a similar way of disassembling them? Thanks for your help!

I am not sure what are you looking for. If you mean the modular design which enables to adjust the cylinder length (usually in steps of 5 mm), ask Mr. Google: modular euro profile cylinder
There are many of them. This is a more expensive solution than the fixed length but enables to re-use the cylinder upon door exchange, what makes sense at expensive high-security cylinders.

P.S. e.g. the early EVVA 3KS early production was fixed and it is modular now.
P.P.S. some of them have pushed-in pins instead of screws. E.g. this one: http://tokozpro.cz/cs/produkty/cylindri ... oustranna/

Thanks for the reply! What I mean is not necessarily the the fact that you can adjust lengths (though this is a part of it) but the fact that anyone can take the cylinder apart. The only thing you need is a kind of screwdriver to take out the 2 screws at the bottom in the following image.

Most cylinders don't have these 2 screws, instead they have a ring over the cam to keep the cylinder in place. You also need tools to keep the pins in the bottom part in place. I believe the reason that with this Kaba cylinder it is so easy is because the whole locking mechanism is contained in the one small cylindrical part (most left part in image).

I'm looking for cylinders that have an easy way to take them appart, similar to the KABA penta design. I believe that having the pins "up in the cylinder" instead of more down towards the bottom like a traditional pin tumbler lock is what makes this possible. Hope this makes it more clear :).

Thus, as I know them (held in my hands):
Abloy Protec
EVVA 3KS (you have to remove the clip, but the plug goes completely out/in without any other tools).
I suppose the EVVA MCS is the same case, Tokoz Pro should be similar to Abloy Protec.
