Schlage latch type?

Postby jfako0 » 9 Jun 2015 15:10

I have a Schlage deadbolt and need a latch for it.

The deadbolt looks like this

Here is a link to the post in case the pic didn't show up

The latch I was looking at is this one. sorry I had to put the link. I couldn't get the pic inserted.

If anyone can let me know if this will work or not that would be great. If it won't work, what should I look for?

you should probably put this post somewhere other than in the Beginner Hobby Lockpicking Questions area..

perhaps Locksmith Supplies ?

I'll move it there for you.

PS. a latch is the spring loaded thing that is triangular shaped and is operated by your knob below the deadbolt on your door, what you need is the bolt.

I think this is the part you need: http://www.lowes.com/pd_166241-352-40-0 ... Id=3255740 so you can buy on ebay or go to Lowe's (Home Depot probably has them as well, but I didnt see it on their website)

OK, thanks.

I thought it was called the bolt, but if you look on the package in the picture in the link. It says deadbolt latch part.

It looks like the one I was looking at. I will check at Home Depot

thanks again

recommend getting a new lock, im not a big fan of that type of latch. super easy to force it open with an ice pick. just not a good quality latch in my opinion.
