My first Mul-T-Lock

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

My first Mul-T-Lock

Finally managed to score an interactive cylinder. I don't have a dedicated dimple pick so I've been experimenting with different Peterson picks to see which works best. What do you guys use to pick these? I was also wondering if the side cuts on the key are passive or do I have to pick those as well.

A half diamond works fine for the outer pins. A small hook or tiny half diamond helps with the inner pins.

If you use the search button, you can find pictures.

Investing in a basic dimple pick set may be a good idea. The flag picks are well suited for that turning style of picking.

After playing around with hooks and small diamonds with zero results, I gave up and ordered a set of Souber dimple picks. My big break came when I decided to use my Rai bogota set while waiting for the package to arrive. The single hump works perfectly and I hit open in less than five minutes! Another testament to how versatile Rai's tools are. I have since received my dimple kit and managed to open it a few more times.

Cool... I will have to try that bogota trick on my master dimple padlock.
